Why do we shear our alpacas? 

It is essential for their health and well-being.

Alpacas don’t naturally shed, so their fleece just keeps growing. Without regular shearing:

• They can overheat in warm weather

• Their vision can be blocked (just like this fuzzy friend!)

• Dirt, debris, and moisture can get trapped in their coat, leading to skin issues

Annual shearing keeps them cool, clean, and comfortable—and ensures they can see and move freely. The bonus? Their fleece gets turned into warm, beautiful, and sustainable products.
